Project Overview and Result
The Dingo Got My Sheep is a casual platformer. It is designed to be played for as long or as short a time as desired, like the old mobile game from the ‘90’s like “Snake”.
What Went Right
-
It’s not any bigger.
-
GDD and other supporting documents were easy to write.
-
Learned some of Unity’s new programming.
-
The game does what is laid out in the Design document.
-
Fixed scripts to do exactly what they were meant to, with help.
-
Sprite frames were easy to draw.
What Went… Not So Right
-
Unity’s new programming meant I knew less than I thought I did at the start, even my Main Menu script no longer worked. Many specific searches bring up older documentation with older scripting methods.
-
Discovered I had the wrong version of Unity on my home laptop and lost a few hours of work.
-
Spent a bit too long trying to fix problems rather than asking for help sooner.
What changed
-
Ram originally charged Dingoes and had no jump function but prototype testing proved this to cause problems as the Player could be injured between charges and the jumping allows the Player to dodge or reach other Dingoes.
